Last updated:

Apple confirms the 28 October Mac event, while some iPhone Duo deliveries move up and iOS 27.2 is nearly ready.

Expected on 28 October: OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro, M6 14-inch MacBook Pro and M6 iMac

High Mac Events

The previews describe a lighter new MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen, powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, and the "MacBook Ultra" name now looks unlikely. The entry 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac mainly gain the M6 chip. MacRumors adds that orders could open on 28 October already, with deliveries from 6 November.

OLED iPad mini with A20 Pro chip expected, possibly around $200 more expensive

High iPad Events

The new iPad mini is said to get an OLED screen, the A20 Pro from the iPhone 18 Pro, stronger speakers, a relocated front camera and possibly water resistance. The roughly $200 jump over today's $599 comes only from MacRumors, so treat it with more caution.

Update: some iPhone Duo delivery dates move up; two-per-customer limit in the US

High iPhone

Orders placed directly with Apple, mostly in Japan, now show earlier delivery dates, in one case from December to 23 October. 9to5Mac says this could be a mistake that gets reversed. Apple also caps US orders at two units per customer, and offers no walk-in sales in Japan and Korea.

iOS 27.2 release candidate out: HomePod gets Sound Glow and a lock for its touch controls

High Software iPhone Home

The first iOS 27.2 release candidate has arrived, along with candidates for macOS, watchOS and tvOS; the public release likely follows within days to a week, though Apple gives no date. HomePod 27.2 brings Sound Glow and a setting to switch off the touch surface on top, while tvOS 27.2 lays groundwork for HomePod surround sound. The revamped Health app is not included and is due later this year.
