Technology, history, a healthy dose of curiosity and the occasional hobby that gets completely out of hand.
From logistics to IT
I’m Pim Uijttewaal. Born in 1966, I grew up at a time when a computer was still something special, and the internet was mostly something you tried to connect to with a squeaking modem and a fair amount of perseverance.
My career didn’t start in IT at all, by the way. Through logistics and inventory management I slowly but surely rolled into automation. First IBM System/36 and AS/400, then programming, systems integration, IT management and finally CRM and Salesforce. In recent years I mostly worked on large international Salesforce environments, where technology is really only part of the job. After all, systems don’t just have to be technically right; people also have to be able, and willing, to work with them.
New October 2026: Enough time zones and worldwide roll-outs: as of 1 December I have resigned from my paid job. Instead, I'm now building Apple software, and the first idea to come out of my head is Declaruur: an app for freelancers to keep track of their hours simply and accurately for different clients. Curious? Take a look at declaruur.nl. I'm also always available for IT consultancy and ad-hoc assignments: feel free to get in touch.
Technology, history and projects
For me, technology has never been just work, by the way. I still enjoy figuring things out, building them, improving them and every now and then letting them get completely out of hand.
A nice example is uijttewaal.info. What started as a personal website has by now become a hobby that got out of hand, including an attempt to capture, in words and images, something of the history of the Uijttewaal family in general and L.P. Uijttewaal Conserven N.V. in particular.
For that I collect and restore old photos, documents and stories, try to put events and people in context and, in the meantime, also build the technology behind the website itself.
After all, why do something the simple way when you can also program it yourself?
This website
That combination describes me rather well. I’m interested in technology, history and people, curious about how things work, and I find it hard to leave something alone when I think it could be better, smarter or nicer.
This website is therefore not a traditional digital business card. Here you’ll find my work experience and expertise, but also personal projects, stories and every now and then something I apparently felt the need to write at great length about.
Welcome, then. Feel free to look around.
